Ohio Regional USk Summit

August 2023 - Columbus OH

Ohio Regional Urban Sketchers Summit

The 2nd Annual Regional Summit was more amazing than the first!

The event sold out immediately, and a waiting list was formed.

Aside from the Main Event on Saturday, the weekend was extended to include (optional) sketching and social events on Friday evening and Sunday.

The "Main Event" began at the Auditorium of the Columbus Library.  Sketchers arrived and registered at 9:00.  Each registrant got a cloth gift bag with the Regional logo and stocked with wonderful sample supplies including:  paper pads, paint brushes, water color tubes and the like.

There was a morning workshop, Key Note presentation by Jeffrey Stahl while sketchers ate their box lunches. A post-lunch raffle was held and the Cincinnati chapter got pretty lucky!  Next, the afternoon workshops began.

The sky was beautiful but the temperature was HOT!  Both workshop instructors and students sweated it out and it was well worth it.  At the throw-down, sketchers were raving about the workshop sessions and instructors.

I've selected photos and a video to represent the Ohio region with a strong emphasis on the Cincinnati USk Chapter.

It is not really possible to get everyone in attendance in one photo but here's a try

A good representation of some of the Cincinnati Sketchers who attended the Summit.

Can you tell this is from Jeff Suntala's class about drawing cars?  Loni Garfield Becker

****There are many other wonderful sketches produced by the Cincinnati Chapter, but if they aren't posted, I can't share them on the blog.  So, post 'em to FB and I'll update this blog post. (or message me on FB messenger @Loni Garfield Becker***

We are proud and grateful to our Cincinnati Chapter Members who were involved in the planning and execution of the event

Kendra Brown, who attended the International Symposium this year in New Zealand, headed up the registration for the event.  And she did a terrific job at it!

Robin Ewers Carnes, who is also a chapter Administrator, teaches a workshop on intentional composition (which I took and found to be so informative)

Christina Wald, also a chapter Administrator as well as a member of the International USk team teaches quick sketch techniques.  Still jet lagged from a residency in France, we're wondering where she gets her energy.
